The series above (together with my film, "15 Bytes") evolved from research into 'everyday' objects - my objects of choice being mobile technology and more specifically, Apple inc. products. These sculptural objects offer alternative aesthetics to the terminologies but also exist to prompt further consideration and discussions surrounding consumerism and waste and control.

“TROLLIED”

Site: Murano Street, Glasgow

“COCOLITH”

Picture
Laser cut and etched acrylic

Work made for "Creative Reactions: Liminal State" which was inspired by Dr Julien Plancq's study of algae and it's links to global warming. The algae congregates to form large blooms which can be seen on satellite imagery. In this work, the individual parts have been constructed such that they may be linked to form new organic patterns; the fluorescent parts are naturally light emitting, thereby referencing the algae's photosynthetic properties.

“SUMMER IN THE CITY”

“AFTER TRUMP”

“THREADS”

Laser etched fluorescent acrylic,
birch plywood

This piece evolved following a collaboration with fellow student, Liz B. Gray. We installed a durational piece hanging threads from a low ceiling in a blacked-out space and projected light through it. This was then developed into a tangible sculptural object.
